The Green Party is on the verge of presenting a bill in parliament with the aim of legalizing cannabis nationwide. Over the years, support for the legalization of cannabis has steadily increased due to rising usage and the drug’s legalization in other regions. Furthermore, the recognition of the benefits and accessibility of medicinal marijuana has contributed to the reduction of the stigma associated with it. However, there is a significant hurdle to overcome. For the legislation to successfully pass through parliament and be enacted into law, it requires the support of government Members of Parliament (MPs). Unfortunately, given the prevailing political climate, it is unlikely that such consent will be garnered.
