While in opposition, Chris Minns, the Premier of New South Wales (NSW), fervently campaigned for the legalization of cannabis. He argued that ending the prohibition on the drug would lead to a safer environment with reduced potency and decreased involvement of criminal elements. Minns emphasized the need to make cannabis consumption safer and minimize the influence of bikie gangs and organized crime groups that thrive on the drug’s illicit market.
