Decades ago, smoking culture was negatively perceived, with marijuana smoking being frowned upon, leading to restrictive laws. However, the recent widespread legalization of marijuana has shifted perspectives, offering new opportunities for small cannabis entrepreneurs.
In the past, many U.S. convenience stores had contracts with major tobacco firms, limiting their choice of rolling papers. This restricted competition and made it challenging for independent brands to thrive. Conversely, smaller brands like RAW found success in independent smoke shops and dispensaries.
Josh Kesselman, the founder of RAW Rolling Papers, prefers working with smaller, independent stores. He stated, “We thrived when collaborating with independent operators genuinely invested in their store’s success. In contrast, large corporate buyers locked into mega tobacco paper contracts often lagged behind the market, to their detriment.”
