Nitrogen (N) is the most essential nutrient for plant growth. Ensuring cannabis plants receive enough nitrogen is crucial for a successful fertilization strategy. Due to its importance, nitrogen deficiency symptoms are often the first to appear and are the most common issue growers face. Signs of nitrogen deficiency in cannabis plants include pale green lower leaves, yellowing of lower leaves, and eventually, necrosis and stunted growth. These symptoms develop because nitrogen is a mobile element, moving from lower leaves to the growing tips if there is a shortage. Conversely, too much nitrogen can cause the edges of lower leaves to burn.
